The images or videos on the screen are usually controlled by a PC hidden behind the scenes with software running to provide the control of what is seen and for how long.
If you put enough of the screens together you get a Video Wall concept and the software helps to blend the image over the multiple screens. Video walls are either formed from TV type screens or from smaller LED panels which for larger installs make the fitting easier as they are lighter but because of the pixilation they aren’t always suitable for up close viewing.
