So what are we talking about when we say the Connected Home Package?
The idea is a home which will feature differing levels of system and equipment built in to a specification from a simple checklist.
It covers aspects of Audio, Visual, Data, Telephone and Controls in the following Option Packages.
Lets start by telling you we really didn’t want to do this … not because we don’t like you, in fact we like clients very sincerely, much. Rather we don’t want you to think there is a one size fits all solution for your Connected Home.
You see we believe in a tailored solution. In the same way you buy tailored clothing, it is designed to fit and having a supermarket suit may be fine in some circumstances but is that really what you have come this far for?
What we want you to get from this section is an idea of how much to set aside as a budget, there is a design process which would follow (no inside leg measurements) if you decide this is for you.
These prices are based on a typical 4 Bed Detached home
Pre Wire Package
Do the design; get your cables in, nothing fancier than that. Future Ready is the key, rest easy knowing you heeded the warnings!
The package deals with the connection of Home Network cabling to provide a Data, Telephone and Freeview TV network and 4 Audio Zones back to a central technology hub. This will also allow for connection of DLNA TVs, Media Storage and Streaming of Smart TV. The network allows for the technology needs now and in the future and includes for an upgraded wireless network too.
Essentially the Silver builds on the same idea as Bronze but with more of the rooms connected (you are up to about 8 zones now) plus a few more Whistles and Bells with an iPad thrown in to control them all. Once you have an iPad in the equation you can plan to control all sorts of gizmos from your ‘command centre’, it’s not quite the Bridge of the Enterprise but you can at least take it to the Captain’s Chair.
Now you are warming things up! The Gold option essentially doubles the size of the Silver pack and adds a further 5 rooms to the Audio system and includes for a ceiling speaker upgrade. There will also be two iPod docks and two iPad controllers, one of which will be On-wall mount and the other would be a built in flush In-Wall mounting.
You really are getting into ‘Bond’ territory now. Moving up to the Platinum package there would be a change of gear, advancing in technology terms to a Full-On Integrated Control system with all of the features of the previous packages but it advances the cause of the Automated Home (or secret agents lair depending on your view).
Control of the system can be via a TV screen interface a dedicated remote control or from an iPad.
The system would allow for connection of controls for lighting, heating, blinds and curtains, and CCTV integration as well as all of the Audio and Visual components.
Home Cinema package
Include a dedicated Home Cinema room or a Media room discretely built into in your family room.
The room would utilise a full size projection screen, a High Definition projector and Blu-ray player.
Imagine gaming or watching the latest blockbuster where the characters are life size! This room often becomes the entertainment hub of the home and a gathering point for Games Night or Family Film Night.
Imagine it all enhanced by atmospheric surround sound, delivering the physical rumblings of the low bass notes on a sound track makes sure the room gives you the same excited feeling as your first cinema trip.

Maybe 25 years ago we could live with an aerial on the roof and a phone point in the hall, and you touched neither, never, not once (unless you were a bad kid). Because short of a hurricane nothing changed in the setup and we didn’t need it to either.
What about our world now? Multiple Sky Boxes High Speed Internet, On Demand Films and Gaming, Streaming YouTube ‘Fail’ videos at parties (Really? You should try it).
You are probably already forming the though ‘What about Wireless’ in your mind right about now. Well We like wireless too after all its ‘Wire Less ‘ but in practice and with almost no exceptions, Wired is cheaper , More efficient and Reliable and needs less setting up.
Also take a look at the future , oh that’s right neither can we , but what we can do is see how much bandwidth current technology is eating up and unless you want a high powered radio emitter on your roof you had better put that cable in to give you half a chance at being ‘Future Ready’ ( Forget Future Proof!)
The best option is to plan ahead, even if you hate all forms of technology the next people to buy your house wont, sure as eggs is low tech eggs and then your small investment becomes a selling tool.
Seriously we hear the tale of woe on a regular basis, for the sake of £250, it is like not bothering to plumb in your bathroom because you like cold baths.
Our team can help you with the design, installation and maintenance of a Pre Wired Future Ready Network
We can help you by installing the best equipment to suit your requirement.
Where should you use it?
